Nauticam N50 Port System

The N50 Port System is Nauticam’s smallest interchangeable port system, engineered specifically for premium compact cameras and ultra-compact mirrorless systems to maintain a lightweight, travel-friendly profile.

1. Compatible Camera Housings

The N50 system is primarily used on Nauticam housings for high-end point-and-shoot cameras with fixed, telescoping lenses, as well as select micro-mirrorless setups:

• Sony RX100 Series: RX100 VI and RX100 VII (e.g., NA-RX100VI / NA-RX100VII housings).
• Canon G-Series: G7X Mark II and G7X Mark III (e.g., NA-G7XⅢ housing).
• Panasonic LX Series: LX100 and LX100 II.
• Compact Mirrorless: Dedicated small-footprint mirrorless housings like the NA-R50 for the Canon EOS R50.

2. Core N50 Port Types

Because compact camera lenses physically extend forward when zooming or powering on, Nauticam developed distinct N50 ports to optimize optical performance and accommodate external “wet lenses”:

• N50 Standard Port: This is typically the stock port included with the housing. It provides full clearance for the camera lens to zoom throughout its entire focal range (from wide to telephoto). However, because the front glass sit far from the lens at its widest setting, stacking external wet wide-angle lenses on this port will cause heavy vignetting (dark corners).
• N50 Short Port: A specialized flat port designed specifically for use with wet wide-angle lenses. It cuts down the internal spacing so that the camera’s lens sits flush against the front glass at its widest focal length. This eliminates vignetting and maximizes image sharpness. (Note: You cannot zoom into telephoto with this port, as the camera lens will physically hit the front glass).
  • M67 Thread Variant: Features a 67mm front thread to screw on standard wet lenses.
  • Bayonet Mount Variant: Features a pre-installed male bayonet mount, allowing you to quickly click-and-lock Nauticam’s optics underwater.
• N50 3.5” Acrylic Dome Port: A miniature optical dome that restores the camera’s native topside wide-angle field of view underwater. It is ideal for divers who want a wide-angle perspective without carrying heavy, expensive external wet lenses.

3. Expanding the System: Wet Optics

The true power of the N50 system lies in its ability to swap between macro and wide-angle configurations on a single dive using underwater-interchangeable wet lenses:

• Ultra-Wide Angle: By attaching an Nauticam WWL-1B or WWL-C wet lens to an N50 Short Port, you can expand a compact camera’s field of view up to a stunning 130 degrees, providing corner-to-corner sharpness perfect for reefscapes, wrecks, and large marine life.
• Super Macro: By using the Standard Port (or an adapter) combined with a Nauticam CMC-1 or CMC-2 (Compact Macro Converter), you can achieve up to 4.5x magnification to shoot tiny subjects like pygmy seahorses or nudibranchs.For exact configuration rules, you can consult the official Nauticam N50 Compact Systems Port Chart.
